Susan is a Bay Area artist with a strong foundation of traditional and digital media. Susan's interest in color and shape date back to her earliest years, with a childhood of painting, story-telling, acting and drawing. Taking a special interest in characters, Susan studied how people express themselves through the arts, especially in theater and illustration. Her passion led her to the Art Institute of California- San Francisco, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Media Arts and Animation. Upon graduation, Susan explored various career paths in art presevation and framing, customer service, design, mid-level management, production and installation, graphic design, one-on-one work with seniors and autistic children, teaching (all ages), and more. As of 2020, Susan's focus became early childhood education as she developed her natually empathetic, caring, animated personality in a soul-gratifying profession at a Montessori preschool as an assistant teacher. Susan also presently works closely with her sister, a Bay Area jewelry-maker and fellow artisan, on their shared Etsy business called Canvas and Metal. Susan continues to expand her portfolio with both traditional and media arts, occasionally exhibiting her work at local art shows, either as an independent artist or as part of the dynamic duo, Canvas and Metal.
